Welcome Aboard Serenity, With Firefly Season 1

From the mastermind of shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, comes the highly anticipated third installment to the Joss Whedon collection, Firefly Season 1.

Available to own on DVD this August 4, the Emmy Award winning, Firefly Season 1 is a must have for all sci-fi fans.

Set 500 years in the future, the crew of the Firefly class spaceship, Serenity, have survived the universal civil war even though their home planet was destroyed in the process. Faced with the reality of having no home to return and the desperate need to avoid capture by the Alliance, the crew of the Serenity roam the galaxy undertaking any job, mostly illegal, to stay afloat.

Captained by Mal Reynolds, an ex-sergeant who fought on the losing side in the war, Mal is a straight talking, hard nosed, good guy who is fiercely protective of his crew and will push all the limits to keep them safe and most importantly, paid.

Mal’s second in charge, Zoë, served as his lieutenant during the war where Mal saved her life. As a result, Zoë is supremely loyal which results many times to the detriment of her marriage to Wash, Serenity’s pilot.

The remaining crew composes of Jayne, a mercenary who is in it purely for the money, Kaylee, the ship’s engineer who is eternally positive and bubbly and Inara, a prostitute (prostitution is legal in the galaxy) who is quite wealthy and as a result has her own shuttle that is attached to the Serenity.

Simon is the doctor onboard and spends most of his time protecting his younger intellectually gifted sister, River from the Alliance who spirited her away and tortured her and Book, the voice of reason on the ship.

Firefly Season 1 sees us following the crew in their travels and watching them evade flesh eating Reavers and everyday challenges on their new frontier.
