Basic Plot

Valentine tells the story of a college nerd (Boreanaz) who becomes the unfortunate victim of a cruel practical joke by four women. More than a decade later, the now handsome and successful Boreanaz still caries a grudge - a grudge that leads to murder.

Valentine is a revenge thriller/slasher flick set in San Francisco where a masked killer stalks a clique of twenty-something female friends. Paige (Richards), Lily (Cauffiel), Kate (Shelton), Dorothy (Capshaw), and Shelley have been best friends since junior high. The opening scene takes place in 1988 at their middle school Valentine's Day dance. The first time we meet the girls they are systematically rejecting the advances made by class geek Jeremy Melton. Upon being caught "forcing himself" on Dorothy, Jeremy is viciously beaten by a pack of bullies. The girls taunt Jeremy as he lies injured, blood trickling down his nostril, through the cherub mask he's wearing, and staining his cheap blue polyester tuxedo. 

The story then jumps forward to the present, only days away from Valentine's. We're then re-introduced to the girlfriends, now all grown up and struggling with dating and career woes. They've matured but remain relatively shallow people. A cherub mask-wearing killer starts hunting down and killing the women beginning with ol' "One Scene Shelley"; before killing them, "the cherub" taunts them by sending threatening valentines. Detective Vaughn later informs the remaining four friends that their old classmate Jeremy Melton is now the prime suspect. 

The whole murderous affair comes to a bloody conclusion during a ritzy Valentine's Day Party. The true identity of Jeremy Melton is revealed in a twist ending.
